Excellence in Therapy

Northumbria University, 21st & 22nd June 2008

As a therapist do you ever feel stuck? Do some of your clients seem to be permanently stuck? How do they keep ending up in this predicament? Do you ever have to wrestle with intractable issues such as depression or addiction? Or do you get trapped in the quicksand of your client’s story? Ever think to yourself: “There must be something I can do to help them but I don’t know what it is.”

If any of these feel familiar then how would you like to be able to get back in the driving seat of your client work? How would you like to be able to understand what is going on in a way that lets you do something about it.

In this two day workshop by Andy Austin you can learn new ways to deal with difficult clients based on the art and science of Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP). As a registered nurse, Andy Austin has worked in casualty, neurological and psychiatric settings. As a therapist he has worked successfully with people that would be considered very difficult clients, he will demonstrate how to use these skills to help people who are really stuck.

On the first day he will lay the groundwork showing you how we construct our internal experience and how as therapists we can detect what is going on.

On the second day, he’ll demonstrate how to use these skills to create interventions that work with addictive personalities, yo-yo quitters. He’ll address the three pillars Guilt, Anxiety and Depression. and how to help your clients onto a different path.
